The entry requirements for the following categories of programmes include:
- REMEDIAL PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
(a) The minimum academic qualification is five (5) O’level credits in SSCE, NECO, GCE and NABTEB at not more than two (2) sittings; those who are still awaiting their SSCE, NABTEB or NECO result (Note: all awaiting results must be ready before the completion of the programme).
N.B The five credits must include English Language and Mathematics for all courses plus three other science subjects for science based courses and three non-science subjects; Economics, Government, Literature, and other related subjects for courses in Faculties of Management Sciences and Social Sciences.
- The candidate must have scored JAMB pass mark for the session under consideration.
- PREPARATORY PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
The Pre-Science Programme also prepares candidates for JAMB and other examinations. The programme offers the students wonderful opportunity to gain high scores in JAMB and to perform excellently well in other exams.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
Candidates are expected to follow the steps below;
Visit Portal: myedu.unizik.edu.ng
- Login to UNIZIK website
- Click on Pre-Science
- Click on generate Invoice
- Proceed to the any bank for payment ( N10,000)
- After payment, login/click on Pre-Science
- Click on fill application form
- Enter your confirmation number and complete your registration
- Submit, Print and proceed to the Pre-Science office at UNIZIK for documentation /payment of school fee/other fees and hostel accommodation
Or
Walk into the Pre-Science Office at Utility Building, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka to obtain the form.
OFFER OF ADMISSION INTO PRE-SCIENCE PROGRAMME
Once the online registration process is completed, the student proceeds to Pre-Science Office for issuance of admission letter and other registration processes. Admission into the Pre-Science Programme does not guarantee automatic admission into regular programme of the University. Details of all existing regulations for the Pre-Science Programme are contained in the Students’ Handbook. Acceptance of offer to do the programme is indicated by payment of all the approved fees to Pre-Science account. Fees are non-refundable, and payment of all fees is a pre-requisite for admission into the Pre-Science programme.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
- Candidates who have collected their admission letters after the payment of school fees should present themselves for registration.
- For screening of credentials, admitted candidates should report to the Pre- Science Office at Awka with the following;
- Printed Application form
- Photocopies of Certificates/Statement of Results
- Photocopies of bank draft for purchase of form and evidence of payment of school fees and other compulsory fees
- Two recent passport photographs
- After being successfully screened, the candidates should collect the following from the Pre-Science Office;

SUBMISSION OF FILES
Each file should contain the following documents before they are returned to the Pre-Science office;

CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION
I Candidates should ensure that their statements of results bear the Centre Numbers of their qualifying examinations.
ii Certificates /statements of results are usually taken to the office of the relevant examination body for verification.
iii Candidates involved with fake(forged) or mutilated results when found, will be expelled or handed over to law enforcement agents.
EXAMINATIONS
i Only candidates who have paid all fees, and have been duly cleared by the Pre-Science Office shall be admitted into the examination halls.
ii A final examination is taken at the end of the programme.
iii Examination class list are prepared for the six subjects based on the category (Core Science Or Social /Management Sciences;

- Literature in English
PASS SYSTEM
Students are judged on their best four subjects and those who meet the cut-off mark for that year are considered for placement into the regular university programmes. The maximum score is 400 points.
RESULT VALIDITY
At the completion of the programme, the result obtained by Pre-Science students is valid for 2 academic years under terms and conditions as stipulated by the university. This implies that candidates who could not register for JAMB in their current year of the programme, can utilize the result in the subsequent year within two (2) academic sessions.
DURATION OF PROGRAMME
The Programme lasts for one academic year of two semesters with breaks within the semesters.
CONDITIONS FOR PLACEMENT INTO REGULAR DEGREE PROGRAMME
- Admission into the Pre-Science programme does not guarantee automatic admission into the regular university programme.
- Candidate must satisfy individual department cut-off mark before being considered for placement in the department.
iii. Obtaining the cut-off mark in the Pre- Science examination does not guarantee automatic admission into the regular programme.
- Placement is determined on individual merit, which is based strictly in both learning and character.
- Candidates involved in acts of indiscipline such as; brawling, molesting of other students, breaking campus or hostel regulations, examination misconducts and association with clandestine organizations, among others, will not be considered for placement.

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is available within the Study Centre. The hostel comprised of male and female hostels that are conducive with access to basic facilities. Students are encouraged to live in the hostel for safety, proximity and a positive study group experience that will enable them think creatively and build strong relationships. The hostel fee is affordable.
Accommodation fee is to be paid together with tuition and other fees. However, students are expected to clear with the office before paying for accommodation and no student should pay for accommodation outside the school hostel without clearance with the office.
*Students are encouraged to come with their personal belongings except mattresses and pillows to avoid bug infestation in the hostel. Payment for mattresses and pillows is made before resumption of academic session into a designated account.
